It was the only glacier we
got
to see, since Glacier Bay, which was supposed to be the high point of
the
trip, was suddenly under attack by Nature with winds of something like
50 miles an hour and waves 30 feet high. The authorities had closed it
down, so all cruise ships were sent south--fast!
THREE VIEWS

MYSTY FJORD

Glacier Bay was closed down
because
of weather, so we didn't see any glaciers up close. This was our booby
prize: the famous "monument" of Misty Fjord. I, personally,
assumed
that overnight all the glaciers had melted away and ... well ... this
was
all that had been left of them to mock us! Misty was far south of
Glacier Bay, and apparently a very famous reserved area, (this
wonderful
"object" had been painted and photographed almost to death, I assume).
It was not what Brigitte had planned on seeing--even if it was a
beautiful
area (glacier or not!)--one could see many breathtaking forests on the
shorelines. Just what we needed: more trees!
